Do a lot of people bring really little ones like mine? I'm worried about him acting up too :S
The younger the baby, the easier for mom to establish a practice with baby and have baby used to seeing mom standing in weird poses ;) Some babies take a few classes before they settle in - mostly because of the new environment (studio room). Also, the nice part is you usually get to have a relaxation period at the end, as very young babies tend to fall asleep by the end. With older babies (4 months +), it's more quiet time than relaxation.
Don't worry about baby 'acting up': this is the reason for mom and baby practice - to have a opportunity to practice yoga and bring baby along. Baby is included in most of the poses, though if baby 'cooperates', you can always do the pose without him/ her. The baby yoga poses in between usually help settle him/ her. And if baby fusses, other moms understand :) So if baby fusses a lot during the first few classes, don't give up too soon.
FYI, you can practice yoga as early as 6 weeks after (vaginal) birth, but this is recommended if you previously had an established yoga practice. However, I prefer waiting the 8 weeks as it's hard to provide the required specific instruction and guidance in a class of mixed levels of moms and mixed ages of babies.
