    WEEK 6: November 27 – Music & Movement with Amy: Engage your baby's senses through rhythm, music, and joyful movement.

  • Postpartum Depression & Anxiety Group Therapy

    Virtual Group Therapy For Moms. 

    This program is eligible for Insurance Reimbursement


    This is an ONLINE support group for moms in Ontario.

    This is a group for women who are looking to connect with other moms. It can be helpful for those currently dealing with symptoms of postpartum depression/anxiety including low mood, irritability, crying, difficulty eating/sleeping, intrusive thoughts etc. This group will give you the opportunity to connect with other women and get support and education regarding postpartum mood, as well as strategies for coping, resources and referrals.

    Note that this is a therapeutic group. An intake will be conducted by our therapist for all those interested in participating to ensure the right fit for group therapy. 

    Please only sign up if you are able to attend all sessions. There is a fee for this program. The supportive group environment works best with everyone attending each session. 

    The cut off date for registration is Monday October 27th to allow time for intake.

    This group does have some exclusions, where it is not a great fit for those who are experiencing severe PMADs, or those who are experiencing acute crisis.

    Facilitator Samantha Cohen 

    Samantha is a Registered Social Worker practicing psychotherapy in Ontario. She holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto, after having completed her Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Sociology through McMaster University.

    Over the last 10+ years Samantha has worked with individuals, families, couples, and groups in a variety of private and public sector capacities. Samantha has expertise in the areas of anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, stress management, and navigating parenting challenges. However, her true passion and area of specialization is in perinatal mental health and women’s health. As a mother herself, Samantha understands the twists and turns of motherhood and the importance of support and community throughout the journey.

    Samantha works collaboratively with her clients as they work towards discovering their inner potential. She believes her clients possess inner strength and resilience to help them overcome difficult life experiences, and gain further insight into their challenges, while learning new coping methods and promoting ongoing mental wellness.

    In addition to providing psychotherapy, Samantha has provided clinical consultation and supervision to Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychotherapists, and Practicum students for the last number of years. She also provides psychoeducational and therapeutic group supports to the community.

    When not working in her private practice, Samantha loves spending time with her two young children and exploring small towns.

    Dr. Daniella Perri is a naturopathic doctor that focuses on postpartum health care.

    In this information packed seminar, we will discuss simple strategies to help boost mom’s and baby’s immune system for this upcoming cold and flu season.

    We will explore the use of supplements (that are also safe in breastfeeding), hydrotherapy, and nutrition in the prevention and treatment of sore throats and ear infections.

    Furthermore, we will highlight the one thing that is often overlooked when trying to heal from an infection.

    LITTLE KICKERS SOCCER CLASS

    Come join us for some indoor soccer with Little Kickers! The class is 45 minutes long. Children are work on the basics of soccer (dribbling, striking, goal scoring etc.) in a play-oriented yet structured format, using child-friendly but realistic soccer equipment. Each child is given the opportunity to work within their ability level but taught in a group environment. Classes also provide a fantastic opportunity for you to assist in your child’s early education, helping them develop physically as well as improving cognitive and social skills.

    Come join us for some indoor soccer with Little Kickers! The class is 45 minutes long. Children are work on the basics of soccer (dribbling, striking, goal scoring etc.) in a play-oriented yet structured format, using child-friendly but realistic soccer equipment. Each child is given the opportunity to work within their ability level but taught in a group environment.     Join local photographer Emily for Life With A Baby Christmas minis! Only 4 spots available. An additional date on Dec 13 may be added if there are interests!

    Happy Talk Sing and Sign Class - Hamilton

    This program is a joyful, music-and‐language enrichment class designed especially for babies and toddlers (typically from about 4 months up to 2 years, depending on the location).

    The class integrates:

    • singing children’s songs and exploring new melodies,

    • learning and using baby signs (i.e., simple signs to help babies communicate before full speech) such as for routines like diapering, bath time, meals, car rides, etc.

    • sensory play and gross-motor activities, and high-energy, playful interaction between caregivers and children (to support bonding plus early language development),

    • embedding language learning into everyday routines — not requiring extra “therapeutic time” but building on what you already do (routine + repetition + connection) for natural learning,

    • a bonding experience with your little one and time to create a community with other parents & caregivers

    Our Amazing Instructors: 

    Brittannie Jespersen, Speech-Language Pathologist/Happy Talk Instructor:

    Brittannie graduated from the MSc Speech-Language Pathology program at McMaster University.

    Her clinical experience spans children (articulation, language, literacy, social communication, AAC) and adults (voice, cognitive communication, swallowing).

    She also has a background in singing and professional vocals — so she brings that creative, musical dimension into her therapy sessions when relevant.

    Brittannie lives in Mount Hope with her family and her wolf-dog Bailey. She enjoys being crafty, loves music and movies, outdoor activities in all seasons, travel, and trying new foods/experiences.

    Allison Fox, B.A.(Hons), Communication Disorders Assistant/Happy Talk Instructor:

    Allison holds a Bachelor’s (Honours) in Linguistics – Communication Disorders Stream from Brock University, and a postgraduate certificate as a Communication Disorders Assistant (CDA).

    She has nearly 19 years’ experience working with neurological injury and differences, and a particular interest in language and building AAC (augmentative and alternative systems).

    Allison has been in many different plays and musical theatre productions. She is a trained vocalist with a beautiful voice!

    Ideal Age Range:

    4 months to 24 months

    Join Swim Time for a special 30-minute baby swim class and 15-minute circle time after the class!

    Ideal age range - 4 months to 2 years

    Class Description - A rewarding water experience for adults with young children. It introduces infants and toddlers to the joys of water activity while developing basic skills and teaches parents/caregivers how to ensure safety at all times. The Swim for Success Tadpoles program consists of 3 parented levels (TP1, TP2, and TP3) designed to build a baby's comfort in the water. Parents are guided through a series of activities, basic skills and learn about creating safe aquatic environments for their little ones.

    All children under the age of 4 or not toilet trained must wear an approved elasticized legged swim diaper. No disposable diapers are permitted. No exceptions. They are available for purchase at the front desk for $20 or bring your own if you already have one.
