PARENTING PROGRAM - FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN 1 to 2 YEARS OLD

Brought to you in partnership with Life With A Baby and EarlyON Child and Family Centre Thornhill and with Speech Language Pathologist Marlene Green.

Language learning depends on loving interaction paired with rich stimulation. It is the gateway to enormous joy, building the skills necessary for reading, writing and arithmetic through conversation and reasoning.

In Parents as Partners - From Words to Sentences, we will explore what children typically learn at this stage and how to enrich their language learning, how play equals learning and the emergence of pretend play.

Please note the zoom link will be sent you with your confirmation email and again in your reminder email.

Note: To participate, you must have access to the internet and the most current version of Zoom.

Marlene Green is a Speech-Language Pathologist with many years of clinical experience with young children. One of her passions is teaching parents and educators of young children strategies to develop communication, social interaction and literacy. During the numerous years she worked as the Community Educator for the York Region Preschool Speech and Language Program, she touched the lives of hundreds of children through her work with their caregivers. Marlene was instrumental in the development of the ERIK Early Referral Identification Kit used widely in York Region to ensure that children suspected of having delays are referred for early intervention. She was also an editor of York Region’s Red Flags Guide and a contributor to The Handbook for Busy Parents by Jill Javelosa-Alvarez.
