Raising a baby is a wonderful experience but it is also a challenge. We get that. This year on Bell Let's Talk Day, we are hosting a low-key informal Pajama Party for you to come out with your baby to meet other moms and chat. We'll have a speaker to give a short talk about self-care and what we can do to take better care of ourselves while caring for our little ones.
The speaker will talk about self-care and wellness followed by a 20 minute circle time, and 20 minutes of mingling.
Coffee/snacks will be provided.
Hosted by tba.
Talk lead by Samantha Copithorne
I am a third year Master’s of Counselling student at Athabasca
University. I am an advocate for maternal mental health, and am
interested in helping individuals in this area. I have completed basic
and advanced training in perinatal psychotherapy training from
Postpartum Support International. I have presented on postpartum
posttraumatic stress disorder (P-PTSD) in New York City, and have
subsequently published a literature review on P-PTSD. I have also been
accepted to present on P-PTSD at the upcoming Canadian Counselling and
Psychotherapy Association in May. I am currently in my final semester of
my practicum and have been seeing many types of clients - including
maternal mental health clients in a therapeutic setting.
