Parent-Baby Yoga (4 months-12 months)
In partnership with EarlyON and Life With A Baby.
The many poses and exercises practiced in soothing Parent-Baby Yoga offer an abundance of benefits for both parent and infant. Yoga can help develop gross and fine motor skills, strengthen parent-baby bonding, boost emotional well being and may improve baby’s sleep and digestion. This 4-week program will also promote nurturing touch and communication between a parent and child.
Other valuable benefits of this Parent-Baby Yoga program:
There's fun to be had for both babies and parents in the experience, playful songs and stories and visual connection between babies.
Yoga reduces stress and anxiety for both parents and babies, and teaches parents to help babies move from fussiness to calming themselves
Yoga increases body awareness, neuromuscular development and movement confidence for both parent and baby.
Yoga boosts the immune system, blood flow and circulation
Yoga creates balance between strength and flexibility in developing bodies, so they grow strong and maintain the flexibility they are born with
Yoga initiates social interaction in a non-competitive environment for both babies and new parents - it's a great way to meet other new Moms and Dads.
Healthy habits learned early in life become a healthy and fit lifestyle later in life
Yoga is an opportunity to practise establishing space for both parent and baby - together. Awareness of separate bodies and separate breaths can assist in creating a loving transition from sharing one body.
And...Yoga is a great way for moms to heal their bodies postpartum, strengthen their bodies, calm their minds, cultivate self-esteem and positive body image, feel relaxed, get back in shape and individuate.
